Police identify two bodies pulled from Hudson River in Hoboken
HOBOKEN, N.J. (PIX11) -The bodies of two young men were pulled from the Hudson River off Pier C in Hoboken early Sunday morning.
A man called police around 5:30 a.m. after his friends disappeared in the water.
Search crews went out, and just before 8 a.m., NYPD scuba divers recovered the first body, and then the second 15 minutes later.
Police identified the victims as Elias Serrano, 20, and Edwin Cruz Jr., 24, both from Newark.
The brother of one of them said they went to a bar to watch the Pacquiao-Bradley fight, before winding up at the waterfront.
Police do not suspect foul play and believe one of the men somehow got into the water, and the other went in to try and save him.
The medical examiner has not yet determined the official cause of death.
When first hearing about the incident, many passersby thought 27-year-old Andrew Jarzyk had been found.
He’s the Hoboken man who went missing two weeks ago. He was last seen on surveillance video jogging along the river in the early morning hours of March 30.
