MANHATTAN (PIX11) — A 21-year-old attacked from behind on a subway platform shook the man who tried to assault her, and now police are trying to find him.

The attack happened about 11 p.m. on March 31 inside the subway station at Fulton and Nassau streets in lower Manhattan, the NYPD said in an announcement released Monday.

The woman was approaching a turnstile when a man grabbed her by the neck, covered her mouth and dragged her toward a station elevator, police said.

Investigators said the attacker, who was caught on surveillance cameras near the scene of the crime, told the victim, “I just want to love you, baby.”

As he dragged her away, the victim bit the subject’s hand and kicked an emergency intercom button near the elevator. The man then let go and ran away.

The subject is described as a black male in his 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded snorkel-style ski jacket.

Anyone who recognizes the alleged attacker is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477), text their tip to CRIMES (274637) then enter TIP577, or visit nypdcrimestoppers.com.
