NEW YORK (PIX11) — Skies will be mostly cloudy Wednesday as a cold front approaches the area from the west.

Scattered showers will develop throughout the day and become steady in the evening with some locally heavy downpours. High temperatures will still be below normal in the mid-40s for NYC, upper 40s for the NJ suburbs.

Showers will continue overnight as the front passes through the area, some spots may even see a thunderstorm. Overnight lows will be in the mid 30s for the city, low 30s in the northern and western suburbs.

Thursday will be partly sunny and unseasonably mild with temperatures in the low 50s.  High pressure will usher in air from the Gulf of Mexico and making it comfortable for us the next 48 to 72 hours.

Our next chance of showers will come late on Saturday as a weak system will pass through in the afternoon.

Skies will be partly sunny with afternoon showers and possibly a thunderstorm.  High temperatures will be in the mid-50s for NYC, upper 50s to near 60 for the suburbs.
