CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, New Jersey (PIX11) – The body of a missing New Jersey mother was found in an abandoned home, and her husband is being charged in her murder, authorities confirmed.
The body of 32-year-old Karla Villagra-Garzon was discovered inside a vacant brick building in Chatham Township Tuesday night. The Union County Medical Examiner confirmed the body was Viallagra-Garzon’s, and found the cause of death to be asphyxiation with blunt-force trauma a contributing factor.
It’s still unclear what led officers to the abandoned home.
Villagra-Garzon disappeared Feb. 23rd and her husband, 39-year-old Abayuba Rivas, told police she had gone to buy medicine for her 2-year-old daughter.
Ayubas, who was reportedly very helpful during the investigation, now faces charges of murder and other offenses.
Rivas is being held on $2 million bail.
