Winter weather hits NYC and transit budgets

Snow removal is always a line item in city and transit agency budgets.

This is shaping up to be a budget-busting year.

An average of $30 million is budgeted each year. According to budget proposals from NYC’s Department of Transportation, when snow removal doesn’t exceed the budgeted amount, the money is saved for a “snowy” day.
