NEW YORK (PIX11) — Everyone needs a good cuddle once in a while.
That’s the idea behind “Cuddle U NYC,” the city’s first professional cuddling service.
For $80/hour ($60 for 45 minutes), Ali C., which is not her real name, will cuddle you in her bed at her downtown apartment. She also offers an overnight stay for $500, but no one has requested that service yet.
“It’s a very healing experience. People are very vulnerable during the process,” the 47-year-old told the Daily News.
Since opening in November, Ali has had over 30 clients. She says her clients come to her for a variety reasons. Some are lonely, are getting through a breakup or are stressed out college students.
Ali says her “creepy meter is pretty fine tuned” and all clients need to sign a strict waiver, prohibiting all unwanted sexual advances.
There are no laws governing cuddling in New York State and Ali’s business didn’t require any permits or licenses.
Ali’s cuddling venture comes from a personal place. “I was a really shy kid, at home there wasn’t a lot of affection. I had nobody to cuddle me and hold me and tell me it’s going to be alright.”
