Queens man arrested in brutal beating of gay journalist

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A Queens man has been charged with assault in the brutal attack on a gay journalist in midtown.

24-year-old Leighton Jennings of Jamaica was arrested Tuesday night.

Police released the sketch of the suspect earlier this week.

Cops say 46-year-old Randy Gener was punched in the face while walking home Jan. 17. He was found unconscious in a pool of blood.

Doctors say it could take him more than six months to recover.

The attack being investigated as a possible bias attack, however, Jennings has not yet been charged with a hate crime
