BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Emergency crews rescued a child who fell into a 15-foot deep manhole in Brooklyn Tuesday morning.

The 10-year-old boy fell into the uncovered manhole at 13th Avenue and 49th Street in Borough Park.

Officials say the boy only suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

Con Ed crews work to fill the manhole where the child fell.

“Thank G-d he was pulled out and seems to be okay but it is important that everyone is aware of the work that is going on in Borough Park so such accidents can be avoided,” Councilman Dov Hikind said on his blog.

“Please warn your children to be extra careful. We are in touch with Con Ed and looking into how this accident was even possible. We are a community of families and children and Con Ed must exercise the very highest safety measures to protect everyone here.”

“I’d say this is a miracle on 49th Street,” one stunned resident said.
