PIX11 WEATHER CENTER — The frigid temperatures that invaded the tri-state area Monday night will stay with us throughout Tuesday as the Polar Vortex continues to be draped over the northeast.

Temperatures will struggle to reach the low double digits Tuesday afternoon as arctic air stays firmly planted.  A Wind Chill Advisory and Wind Advisory remain in effect through this evening for the tri-state area. Expect 40 m.p.h wind gusts to combine with single digit temperatures to make it feel like -15 to -20 over the region.

Wednesday will feature slightly milder temperatures with less wind as high pressure moves eastward over our area. High temperatures will be 10 degrees warmer than today with mostly sunny skies.

The tri-state area will begin to feel some relief on Thursday as high pressure moves offshore and brings milder air from the Gulf of Mexico. Our highs will be in the mid 40s by Friday and close to 50 degrees as the weekend arrives.
