WOODSIDE, Queens (PIX11) – The driver of a truck that struck and killed an eight-year-old boy as he walked to school in Queens has been arrested and charged, cops say.

Mauricio Osorio-Palominos, 51, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle in violation of safety rules.

Police say Noshat Nahian was crossing the intersection of 61st Street and Northern Boulevard in Woodside at about 8 a.m. when a tractor-trailer making a left turn hit him.

The boy was just a block away from his school, PS 152, when he was struck.

Osorio-Palominos stayed at the scene of the accident.

The boy was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
