NEW YORK (PIX11) – Snowy owls are no longer on the Port Authority’s hit list.

The Port Authority started killing the owls Saturday at local airports after the birds were getting caught in plane engines.

Now the agency says they are working with the Department of Environmental Conservation to now trap and relocate them.

In 2009, a bird strike forced Captain “Sully” Sullenberger into an emergency landing in the Hudson River.
