NEW YORK (PIX11) – Nijaey Hilton, 5, was reunited with her family Wednesday after being taken from her East Harlem home by her uncle, 29-year-old Ramel Robinson.

Little Nijaey was unharmed.

Robinson, who has a history of mental illness, was found at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. He has been charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child under 16, unlawful imprisonment and enticement of a child under 16 by a relative.

The girl’s grandmother, Bridgette Williams, sat down with the PIX11 Morning News Thursday and said her stepson [Robinson] is troubled and has been hearing voices.

Williams said she doesn’t want him to go to jail, but instead wants him to receive proper psychiatric care.
