Missing 5-year-old Manhattan girl found
NEW YORK (PIX11) — A missing 5-year-old Manhattan girl has been found, her family told PIX11 News.
Police have offered limited details. Little Nijaey Hilton was found about 3:40 p.m. near the Apollo Theater. Her uncle, with whom she was last seen, is in police custody.
There are no visual signs of trauma on Nijaey but she was taken to the hospital for observation.
The Missing Child Alert was issued earlier in the day for the East Harlem girl police say was kidnapped by her uncle who they say has a history of mental health problems.
Cops say Nijaey was last seen leaving her home at East 112th Street at about 10 p.m Tuesday with her uncle, 29-year-old Romel Robinson. Sources say Robinson has not been taking his medication.
According to the family, Robinson came to the family’s apartment Tuesday evening and told Nijaey they were going to listen to music in his car. Robinson never brought her back.
The girl’s mother told PIX11 she called Robinson and he hung up on her. When she texted him, he replied “lol.”
