‘I’m a New Yorker, I love a challenge’: Lhota remains confident despite poll numbersNEW YORK (AP) — Republican New York City mayoral hopeful Joe Lhota says he’s “very optimistic.”

The candidate was accompanied by with wife, Tamra, as he cast his vote at a polling place in Brooklyn.

He says he voted by paper ballot, which he says is probably faster than voting by machine.

The former head of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority posed for photographs with voters and his wife.

Lhota says he’s looking forward to the results Tuesday night.
