HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (PIX11) — The Piano Man is taking center stage on his home turf of Long Island for a not-so-surprise charity concert — and the scalpers are already having a field day.
Promoters announced on Tuesday that Joel will be performing Wednesday night at the Paramount in Huntington.
Tickets went on sale Tuesday at noon and were sold out in just minutes. Prices were set between $79.50 and $150 and had a two ticket limit.
The tickets were sold exclusively through Ticketmaster and on the phone.
Some lucky ticket holders are posting them online and seeking a princely profit.
One person posted a pair on Craigslist for $800. On Stubhub, a single general admission ticket is listed at $999. Prices are expected to climb as the concert gets closer. On eBay, a single ticket as of 2 p.m. had already reached $500 — bidding had started at 99 cents.
A portion of the proceeds sold through Ticketmaster will go to Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
Joel currently holds the record for selling out 11 nights in a row at Madison Square Garden, breaking the record of most consecutive nights sold out.
The Piano Man’s extensive fan base made it very competitive for the 1,555 capacity of Paramount.

It's really great that all the scalpers got them first because I was on at exactly 12 noon and it already sold out, why does ticketmaster even bother announcing a show like this if it sells to the scalpers first,I hope they eat all those $600 tickets.
