Amber Alert issued for 5-year-old boy abducted in Westchester County

The New York State Police have activated an AMBER alert for an abducted child near Cortlandt in Westchester County.

Police say 5-year-old Avanta Perez was abducted around 6:33 p.m., Thursday evening.  He is 3 feet 8 inches tall, 50 lbs. and has short brown hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing an aqua shirt and khaki pants.

It is believed that he is with 23-year-old Amanda Perez.

Perez is believed to be driving a gray 4-door Honda Civic sedan with the license plate number DRT8361.  She was last seen driving toward the Bear Mountain area on Rt. 9.

According to police, Perez is emotionally distraught and has threatened to harm herself and her child.  Amanda Perez is described Hispanic female with long brown hair and brown eyes, approximately five feet five inches tall, weighing 135 lbs.  She was last seen wearing black pants, a red flowered shirt and a black sweater.

Anyone with any information on this abduction is asked to call the NYS Police at (866) NYS-AMBER or dial 911 to provide information on a report or sighting.
