The terrifying clown who has been frightening the town of Northampton in England has agreed to an interview, and says he’s just trying to entertain.

As if clowns weren’t scary enough, he admitted to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo that his terrifying disguise is indeed modeled after the character Pennywise in Stephen King’s “It”.

While Pennywise hunted children, the Northampton Clown — who is keeping his identity anonymous — claims he “just wanted to amuse people.”  Seeing his source-of-all-nightmares costume is just like going to a horror film, the clown claims, “when people get scared they usually start laughing.”

As his appearances mount and his notoriety grows, more people are trying to unmask him, the clown says.  He admits it’s getting “more difficult to keep his identity a secret.”  Does that mean he’s having to flee residents following him back to his home after an afternoon of fear-mongering?

If so, his Facebook page — which now has over 143K likes — may not be helping his cause.
