PIX11 on Monday announced the final new anchor lineup for PIX11 Morning News. Kori Chambers joins the station to anchor alongside Sukanya Krishnan weekday mornings from 6-9am beginning Oct. 7.
The addition of Chambers, paired with Krishnan, completes the PIX11 News anchor teams, complementing the previously announced 4-6am PIX11 Morning News team of Marysol Castro and Dan Mannarino, and the PIX11 News at 5 and 10 team of Scott Stanford and Tamsen Fadal.
Chambers joins PIX11 from WFLD in Chicago where he anchored Fox 32 News at Noon and Good Day Chicago weekdays. Prior to his position in Chicago, Chambers was an anchor and reporter for WDIV in Detroit and has worked for televisions stations in Las Vegas and Springfield, Mass. Chambers made his first television appearance on a national stage as a fill in co-host on Live! With Regis and Kelly.
“Kori is a terrific journalist, a great guy, and like many of us, a native New Yorker and the son of immigrants. He is the right fit for PIX11 Morning News and I can’t wait for viewers to see the dynamic between Kori and Suki. I’m confident their easy rapport will complement the newscast as they bring viewers everything they need to know each morning,” said Mark Effron, VP/News Director, PIX11.
Chambers, who was born in the Bronx and lived in Mount Vernon as a child, will be returning home to New York with his wife this month.
“PIX11 is a great station, one my family has watched for years. Knowing that the audience will include them is the icing on the cake. The idea of being a part of PIX11 is really exciting and I can’t wait to join the morning crew,” said Chambers.
A member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Chambers has been honored for his volunteer work in the classroom after creating a media course that used journalism to reinforce the fundamentals of reading and writing to city students. Chambers holds BA in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
