LIRR service has resumed with delays of up to 20 minutes system-wide. A spokesperson says a contractor working in Queens on the East Side Access project cut a signal cable earlier in the afternoon.

Amtrak is responsible for maintenance and repairs within the East River tunnels.

Three of the four tracks are operational again as of 5:30 p.m. LIRR estimates full repairs could take 2 hours.
