Police are searching for a suspected bank robber who may have fled through a Metro-North station in Greenwich, CT, Wednesday.

The station was closed as police searched the area, including two trains, without finding the gunman.  The man is wanted for robbing a People’s United Bank around 5 p.m. before running down Steamboat Road toward the station with an undetermined amount of cash, according to police.  He reportedly spoke to the bank teller in Spanish.

No one was hurt during the robbery, but commuters got a scare after police boarded in black vests and ordered people to get down.

A Metro-North spokesman initially reported gunfire, but police now say there were never any shots fired.

The investigation occurred during rush hour and caused hour-long delays after service resumed.
