Scott Stanford will join WPIX on Sept. 16.

PIX11 News on Tuesday unveiled its new Evening News anchor team. Emmy-Award winning anchor Scott Stanford will join the PIX11 News at 5 and the PIX11 News at 10 to anchor alongside Tamsen Fadal weekdays beginning Sept. 16.

Stanford, a four-time New York Emmy Award-winner for “On-Camera Achievement,” joins Tamsen and Mr. G at PIX11 from NBC, where has most recently served as the sports anchor for WNBC, the fill-in host for The Crossover on NBCSN and the news anchor on WNBC’s COZI TV (formerly New York Nonstop.)  Stanford is also an in-studio host for WWE.

“I am impressed with Scott’s skills as a communicator, his ability to get to the essence of a story and his sports experience, which has proven he is quick on his feet,” said Mark Effron, PIX11 VP/News Director. “Just like our audience, Scott is a local guy who is passionate about this place we call home and I’m certain viewers will appreciate his candor and his personality.”

Stanford has also worked in the New York market at WNYW Fox 5 and WWOR My9. Prior to joining My9, Stanford was the full-time afternoon sports anchor on WCBS Newsradio 880, where was twice awarded the “AIR Award,” which recognized him as the best radio sports anchor in New York City. He began his broadcast career at WFAS in Westchester County and WRKL in Rockland County.

“As a lifelong New Yorker, my entire broadcast career has been based here and I am thrilled to be joining a station with such a strong New York heritage. I have watched PIX11 since I was a kid and I can’t wait to get started in the newsroom,” said Stanford.

Stanford has also been a play-by-play announcer for college basketball and arena football.  In addition, he has been heard as an announcer and voice-over artist for many national television programs including The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the GQ Men of the Year Awards.

Stanford received a degree in Broadcasting and Communications from the State University of New York at Oswego. He lives in northern New Jersey with his wife and daughters.

Terrible!! You guys need to do whatever it takes to get jodi back to atleast nights. Back with the format where she was standing. Double anchor news is horrible! Scott and Tamson? No Thanks!

Scott Stanford….really ??? This guy is a dork ! I'm a huge sports fan and like pix11's newcasts because they don't put an emphasis on sports. If I want sports I'll got to espn. Stanford is almost as dorky as Len Berman (sp), can't tell you how glad I am he's off the air.____I like the format of a single anchor walking around the studio, makes the person seems real and the news seem genuine. Not sure I'm going to like the sit behind a desk with a former bad sport sportscaster.

Scott Stanford is hard to take seriously. He simply does not have the stature of a serous news anchor.
    He's no Jim Watkins

What is the point of adding this idiot next to an anchor who carried the entire program perfectly on her own? This dude is a clown and you already have enough clowns on your news! Get rid of Scott Stanford.

Scott is a wonderful new addition to the broadcast!
We liked you when you were on your previous gig, and now you've brought some life to PIX.
    Keep up the good work!
Tamsen & Scott are a great match of co-anchors!

Many viewers will appreciate Scott Stanford keeping his uninformed, impertinent opinions to himself. While on-air Friday, October 4th, he mentioned that he likes that song by the B52s called "Shake Shack". The song is actually titled "Love Shack". This is just one example of several offenses to your now dwindling viewers. The elegant and clever, yet respectful, Tamsen Fadal was doing very fine on her own, thank you very much. I trust Pix11 is not paying this new dim-witted, would-be comic any more than about 35K annually.

  • Sorry t

Ok, t's high pitch voice is still high. It is now winter so I think it is time for the outfits to have long sleeves. That may be a strange comment but that would look more appropriated for the time of year.

Please have the voice a little less like nails on a board. Thank you.
