(Staten Island, NY)(WPIX11) – Hurricane Sandy hit all of the New York City boroughs, Staten Island may have fared one the worst. As 15-foot waves crashed down on neighborhoods, killed dozens, and displaced thousands more.

Since this catastrophic time many continue to find themselves in limbo.

Arkadiy Fridman, president of the Staten Island community center organized an information session to help people find the programs to help sandy victims get back to their lives.

He tells us most of the people here are from the Russian community on Staten Island who weren’t able to find proper assistance right after the storm.

The event was as much for finding government agency contacts, as it was to share stories and gain strength which was felt during the raffle, giveaways and moments of song.
