YANKEE STADIUM (PIX11) – Hours before Alex Rodriguez made his return to Yankee Stadium for the first time this year, lifelong fans Nick Falliven and Stephanie Ciccone from Pisscataway, New Jersey were excited about seeing A-Rod’s comeback and rolled out the red carpet for one of their favorite players.
But the home run was just about to com, as 27-year-old Nick swung for the fences as he threw a curve ball that no one was expecting as he got on one knee and asked the love of his life the ultimate question.
“Sir Can I have a moment? Stephanie will you marry me?” he asked.
And Stephanie’s response, through tears and emotions, was a definite, “Oh my God, Yes.”
As Stephanie showed off her big rock with a big smile and big dreams of connubial bliss, A-rod also was hoping to provide a sparkling surprise for Yankees lineup coming off a one for five outing versus the White Sox on Wednesday. His bat is surely needed in a lackluster lineup; however, Leon Altman from the Bronx, who’s been a Yankees fan since the days of Mickey Mantle, is glad to see A-Rod back. But he believes even if A-Rod’s comeback is successful, the damage to the slugger’s image and his relationship with the fans are in need of much repair.
“I believe everyone deserves a second chance but he’s had too many. He smiles in front of the camera as if he’s done nothing wrong,” Altman said.
