Westchester County is being sued over a lack of ultraviolet treatment of the drinking water in some towns.

The environmental protection agency and lawyers with the U.S. Attorney’s Office have filed a civil suit against the county.

They say the ultraviolet treatment is needed to kill a water-borne parasite that is often found in drinking water.

The areas affected– Scarsdale, White Plains, North Castle, Mount Vernon and Yonkers.
