(PIX11) – Long Beach, Long Island is marking a major milestone since super storm Sandy.
A four block section of the new and improved boardwalk will reopen Saturday.
The original boardwalk was destroyed in the storm.
The new boardwalk is made up of resilient materials, including Brazilian hardwoods and concrete.
It also features a retaining wall that will provide protection from future storms.
The boardwalk renovation is expected to cost $40 million.
