(PIX11) – There was a celebration on the water near the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum Saturday.

The FDNY held its 12th annual Blessing of the Marine Fleet. Fire boats and medical response crafts made their way up the Hudson.

Commissioner Salvatore Cassano says the boats were a tremendous resource during super storm Sandy, helping to rescue many New Yorkers.

The newest fireboats weigh 500 tons each and can pump 50,000 gallons of water per minute.
