(PIX11) — Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano joined other lawmakers Wednesday to proclaim  July 17 “Chris Weidman Day.”

Earlier this month, the underdog upset legendary mixed martial arts champ Anderson Silva.

Weidman was recognized for his contributions to the community following Superstorm Sandy. He and his wife organized food and clothing drives for victims, even while dealing with devastation suffered by their own home.
