NYC crews respond to sinkhole report

A sinkhole on 43rd Street just west of 9th Avenue was first reported to the city, according to the NYC 311 website, on July 11th.

It was reported at least 3 times. In one instance, the case was closed because the NYC DOT did not observe a problem. A second report was referred to another city agency. The NYC Department of Environmental Protection sent out a crew after PIX11 news Reporter Greg Mocker contacted the office to report the size and actual location of the problem.

The road has been repaired.

A larger project may be necessary to fix the issues underneath.
