EAST VILLAGE, NEW YORK (PIX11)– In the East Village, the Middle Collegiate Church was just one of several houses of worship nationwide angered by the “not guilty” verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial.

Congregants of the multi-racial church were invited to wear hoodies in memory of Trayvon Martin and others like him who have been killed.

Senior minister, the rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, told parishioners that despite the devastating verdict the country has to work toward peace and healing.

George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second degree murder for shooting and killing Trayvon Martin back in February 2012.

Middle Collegiate is in the West Village across the street from where Crazy Eddie's was.
