Sandy-impacted Staten Island residents call on Department of Health to rid abandoned homes of mold

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK (PIX11)- Beacon of Hope New York teamed up with ‘The Everything Mold Discussion Group’ and local officials on Staten Island to discuss homes still covered in mold from hurricane sandy.

The group met outside of one of the now abandoned homes in Cedar Grove om Saturday.

The goal was to get the attention of the health department, identify homes for health issues and finally get them all cleaned up.

The group hopes the city will rebuild the homes infested with mold.

They are also calling on city lawmaker’s to develop a plan to prevent mold infestation reoccurring after future storms.
