A prima facie case means in essence the Zimmerman must prove that it was basically possible that he acted in self-defense, or in other words, evidence from which the jury can believe the self-defense claim might be true. Now that means that George Zimmerman is not guilty if the prosecution fails to prove second degree murder or that Zimmerman did not act in self-defense.
