NEW YORK (PIX11) – An emotionally disturbed woman stabbed an innocent straphanger in the shoulder on a No. 6 train Monday morning.
No words had been exchanged when the attacker suddenly stabbed the victim, a 39-year-old woman, at 10:10 a.m. in Manhattan.
Once the train pulled into the East 59th Street station, a 19-year-old Good Samaritan stepped in and tried to restrain the stabber. But the young woman who tried to help instead got a punch in the face and her hair pulled by the 41-year-old assailant.
Both victims were taken to Weill-Cornell Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation.
