Lake Court, Middle Island (PIX 11)-  Suffolk County Police arrested a man who broke into a Middle Island pet store and allegedly stole a male Rottweiler puppy after the store closed on Tuesday.

A Friends of Freddie Pet Rescue employee called the police at 8am on Wednesday June 26th, when she noticed the glass front door was shattered and the puppy missing.  The employee told police that a tattooed man with no shirt on had entered the day before, asking if the dog had a microchip.  A store clerk told him that the puppy didn’t have a micro chip, but asked him to come back when he had a shirt on.
