Some Citi Bike stations not properly securing bikes

A check of a few Citibike stations today in Manhattan revealed that some docking stations are not functioning properly and therefore are unable to check in a bike.

Some riders are not properly checking in their bikes (which could result in overtime fines or a fee if it is lost or stolen).

PIX11’s Greg Mocker reported the unsecured bikes and problem stations to the program’s customer service number. The program will have a crew check the docking station.

NYC Department of Transportation and the program’s administrators recommend double checking that a bike is secure by pulling on the seat before leaving the area.

If the bike cannot be checked in, riders should check out another station in the area.
