ATLANTA (PIX11) — A man was shot and killed Saturday morning outside an Atlanta sneaker store after attempting to rob a customer who was on line waiting for the release of the new LeBron James sneakers, the LeBron X EXT.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the alleged robber was harassing the line of eager patrons when suddenly one of the customers pulled out a gun, shooting and killing the man, supposedly out of self-defense.
Witnesses who saw the incident reportedly sided with the shooter, insisting it was indeed an act of self-defense. One witness identified as Taylor White said, “He really stood up for all of us…”
Oddly enough, the gunman got back into line after the incident. The man, who was not immediately identified, along with other customers, appeared to be unfazed by the fatal shooting and carried on with their quest to land the sneakers.
There were only 22 pairs of the sneakers available at store upon release, reports said. Each pair boasts a hefty price tag of $180 each.
The shooting took place at 5:30 a.m., six hours before the store opened. By the time doors opened at 11:30 a.m., the store sold out of the coveted sneakers within 2 hours.
