Search continues for gunman who shot a 9-year-old girl in the Bronx as gun violence overtakes city

9-year-old Amanda Chavan is home after being shot in the stomach while playing near her home in the Bronx.

Police are still looking for the suspect, 17-year-old Billy James Jr.

Amanda’s grandmother, Wanda Forte, said, “We are so glad she is ok and alive and well.”

Violence took over the city Saturday night, five people shot in just 21 minutes.

It all started around 9:30 in Jamaica queens, a woman in her 20s shot in the leg.

Six minutes later on Staten Island, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the chest inside Mahoney Playground.

Then, in the Bronx more gun violence: two people shot there.

All victims are expected to be okay.

In Brooklyn early Sunday, morning police responded a building on East 51st street to find 24-year-old Anthony Keith with a bullet wound to his torso. Keith died at King’s County Hospital.
