A slow moving storm system will bring heavy rain to the Tri-State area over the next two days. Bands of moisture will continue to stream in off the Atlantic Ocean bringing thunderstorms with locally heavy downpours.
Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible as storm cells move through the area. Driving will be difficult as heavy rain will cause ponding of water on roadways and minor flooding in poor drainage areas.
This system will linger over the region through Thursday before a cold front moves through bringing another chance of showers and thunderstorms into the weekend.
By Mother’s day, the bulk of the moisture will be clear of the area, however an isolated shower cannot be ruled out.
