The referee assaulted at a soccer game in Utah last weekend is dead.
Salt Lake City police say 46-year-old Ricardo Portillo was punched in the face by a 17-year-old player after a penalty call.
It didn’t look like he was badly hurt at first. Then, doctors discovered he had serious head injuries.
Portillo was in critical condition at the hospital and died last night.
The kid who hit him is in juvenile lockup and will most likely face additional charges.
