There’s a new strain of antibiotic resistant gonorrhea that’s now considered a superbug.
Experts say it has the potential to be as deadly as the AIDS virus if it’s not brought under control.
Gonorrhea is the second most common sexually transmitted disease in North America.
This new strain called HO41 was first discovered in Japan two years ago in a sex worker.
It has since spread to Hawaii, California and Norway.
According to experts, this bacterium is very aggressive and could put someone into septic shock and even cause death in a matter of days.
The best way to protect yourself against this super-strain of gonorrhea is to practice safe sex all the time and if you’re in a new relationship, you and your partner should get tested.
