City lawmakers out in full force to help catch Queens sex predator
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has joined the effort to get a pervert off the streets of South Ozone Park, Queens.
The speaker hit the streets with Council Member Eric Ulrich to alert residents to a series of sexual assaults in the neighborhood.
Starting just after 7 a.m. Monday morning, Quinn began handing out wanted posters on 114th Street at Rockaway Boulevard, offering $12,000 dollars in reward money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
The mayoral hopeful went from car to car and even boarded city buses with the posters. ” We’re asking the public, if you recognize this man call the anonymous tip line. We need your help.” Quinn also told PIX11, “If you or your child has been victimized by him call the police.”
Cops believe the same man may have been involved in as many as three sexual assaults on young girls in the last week.
The first attack was last Wednesday. Cops say a 7-year-old girl was sitting on the stoop of her house when he approached and touched her.
About three hours later, cops say he grabbed a girl in a driveway near her home and forced her to perform a sex act. He was caught on surveillance video in that case.
Detectives tell PIX 11 they think the same guy may have been in a tan van Thursday when he stopped a 14-year-old girl and exposed himself to her.
We asked Council Speaker Quinn if she believes there are more cases. “We just don’t know. A horrible guy like this doesn’t stop at one,” she said.
The guy is described as having a dark complexion, in his 20’s, six feet tall, 160 pounds with black hair.
If you recognize him, you are asked to call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-577-TIPS.
