Sunday, Senator Schumer spoke about closing a very important loophole in the gun laws.

The way it works now, the gun laws don’t allow people with prior records or the mentally ill to legally buy guns. But, if you’re on a terror list — no problem. You can purchase a firearm online or at a gun show.

Between 2004 and 2010, more than 1,300 people who are on terror lists were able to legally buy guns. Schumer wants to change that.

Senator Schumer hopes to have the new legislation ready in the next couple of months.
