Journalist Mary Thom killed in motorcycle crash

NEW YORK (PIX11)- Journalist Mary Thom has died.

She was killed Friday after crashing her motorcycle on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers.

68-year-old Thom was a prominent feminist who helped found Ms. Magazine back in 1972.

Starting in 1990 Thom served as the magazine’s executive editor for 20 years.

Thom lived most of her life on the Upper West Side in Manhattan.

She had been working as the editor in chief at The Women’s Media Center at the time of her death.

She is credited with being one of the great visionaries of the women’s movement.

Thom is survived by her sister Susan Thom Loubet and her nephew Thom Loubet.
