Brooklyn bridge work causes commuter headaches
BROOKLYN (PIX11)- Drivers who need to get from Brooklyn to Manhattan have to find an alternate route on Saturday and Sunday.
The Brooklyn Bridge is closed to Manhattan bound traffic all weekend.
The bridge is undergoing necessary construction.
The construction includes replacing roadway pavement, repainting the bridge, rebuilding the historic arch blocks, re-shaping the exit ramps and increasing overhead clearance at the York Street arch over the BQE.
Drivers can use the Williamsburg or Manhattan Bridges or the Hugh Carey Tunnel as an alternate.
The Brooklyn Bridge re-opens to Manhattan bound traffic at six a.m. on Monday morning.
The construction will run until 2014.
During the construction the promenade will be open for bicyclists and pedestrians.
