Cancer license plate sparks community outrage

OKLAHOMA (PIX11)- An Oklahoma man is waging his fight against brain cancer and against the State Tax Commission.

Nick Williams has a license plate that reads “F Cancer.” Williams gets a lot of complaints because of the implied vulgarity, but he says the “f” stands for fight.

The State Tax Commission sent him a letter saying he must change his plates.

He plans to call the commission and plead his case to a supervisor.

Williams has had surgery, chemotherapy and countless trips to the hospital to fight his cancer.

This is what a town is worried about? I am a cancer survivor twice and I believe he should be allowed to keep his plates. Let the town worry about something important instead. Geez!

Its ridiculous that people are making this a "controversy", when they should be supportive. If it is the "F bomb" at least its not more definitive, but it's just the letter F, and besides he has the right to have that plate being a cancer fighter. This might actually be helpful to turn the thought of the F letter, from bad to a good thing seeing as it means FIGHT if you have an open mind. If they or their child figures it's the bad word, they obviously already got that in they're own head elsewhere. After I lost my mother to cancer, I had a shirt and cap that actually said F*(k cancer. I wore it in public after curfew hours so the youngsters wouldn't see it, and no one made a deal about it. If they would have, O'well your children were well out after curfew! I hope they let him keep that plate, and get off his back so they can continue their daily QVC shopping.

I applaud this man and his fight. These people are ridiculous and need to get a life.
As a standup comic, I talk about my battle with cancer onstage. One of my chemo's was called 5FU. I asked the oncologist why it couldn't have been called 5HM for Hail Mary. Why did I have to come in for 5 Fu*k U's a week? I then created a t-shirt that I wore to the office that looked like a Texas license plate and it read 5FU~2U2. I am now a stage 3, 17 year breast cancer survivor
I will continue to dis-respect cancer with every breath I take!

I admire you Magee and all of you cancer survivors. Keep fighting and keep the faith! For every few stupid people that don't understand, there's thousands more that do and support your cause. God Bless (((HUGS)))
