Early Saturday morning authorities at Marine 9 reported the barge was slowly submerging.

The barge is carrying a crane that’s being used to repair damage done by Hurricane Sandy at the Steeple Chase Pier.

The pier is located near West 20th Street.

Officials are on standby in case the 500 gallons of fuel it’s carrying begin to leak.
