CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — Police have arrested the  manager of a popular local diner who is accused of conspiring to murder his uncle in an alleged murder-for-hire plot, officials said Wednesday.

According to authorities, 45-year-old Georgios Spyropoulos, manager of the Tick Tock Diner on Route 3 in Clifton, was placed into police custody after police foiled his plot to kill his uncle Alexandros Sgourdos.

Officials say Spyropoulos planned to have his uncle tortured, robbed and murdered with the help of two men he hired. A trooper happened to be playing the part of a would be assassin which ultimately led to the nephew’s arrest.

Sgourdos served as the manager of the family’s second diner on 8th Avenue in Manhattan.

45 year old Georgios Spyropoulos of Clifton NJ arrested at Tick tock diner on route 3 in clifton. Spyropoulos is manager there.  His intended murder for hire victim was his uncle 57 year old Alexandros Sgourdos (manager of tick tock diner in manhattan) also of Clinton.

Spyropoulos planned to have his uncle tortured robbed and murdered with the help of two men. A trooper happened to be playing the part of a would be assassin.
