After the untimely death of one of it’s stars, MTV has decided to cancel Buckwild.

The network reportedly decided not to resume production on the reality show a week after the shocking death of cast member Shain Gandee.

Despite having enough footage for several new episodes, MTV executives came to the realization that without fan favorite Gandee, the show wouldn’t be able to continue, Yahoo’s Deadline reports.

The bodies of Gandee, his uncle and a friend were discovered in a parked vehicle in Sissonville, West Virginia on April 1.

MTV released a statement, confirming the shocking death.

“We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident. We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly.”

Shain was considered to be the breakout star of MTV”s Buckwild which follows the lives of nine young adults in rural West Virginia.
