A dying teenager in Tennessee found out last week that her treatments for bone cancer were no longer working.

What’s worse — she was rushed to the hospital — just hours before her prom.

So, the Campbell County community worked together to bring the dance to her.

Hospital workers decorated her room for the big night. Katelyn’s date brought her a corsage and a sash.

Friends and family held candles and formed the shape of a heart outside the hospital to show their support for the teen.

Despite her absence, the actual prom was dedicated to the teen. The night was a celebration of Katelyn – featuring all her favorite things.

But most importantly, the people she loves most. Her friends passed along messages of hope and love.

The theme of the night was “Katie in the sky with diamonds.”
