A lucky state trooper didn’t have to look hard for lawbreakers as he prepared to start his shift Tuesday night — three of them decided to get high in the Totowa Police Dept. parking lot.
State trooper Erik Tapia was parking his personal vehicle when he smelled the strong odor of marijuana emanating from a nearby 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue.
Three men were smoking weed with small bags of it scattered around them, according to New Jersey state police. They were apparently waiting for a fourth man, who was in the police station trying to pick up paperwork for an impounded car.
Officers searched the Oldsmobile and found 15 bags of marijuana and more than a dozen ecstasy pills.
Tamer Abdelrahim, 22; Isaias Parrilla, 22; Hensley Nunez, 21 and Bernardo Cuevas, 23, were all charged with drug possession.
Cuevas and Parrilla also had outstanding warrants and were turned over to Totowa Police.
