Julio Acevedo, sought in triple-fatal hit-and-run, has lengthy arrest record

(Williamsburg, Brooklyn) - Police believe 44-year-old Julio Acevedo is the man responsible for wiping out an entire family in a tragic hit-and-run car accident.

Police believe Acevedo was behind the wheel of a gray BMW when it went crashing into a black Toyota Camry livery cab late Saturday night.  Passengers Nathan Glauber and his wife, Raizel, who was 7-months pregnant, were rushing to the hospital for what they believed were premature labor pains.

An eyewitness spoke exclusively to PIX11 and said she was in her own car when she saw the horrible accident unfold. The young woman, who asked not to be identified, said she saw Acevedo speed around her car recklessly on Kent Avenue right before he crashed into the driver’s side of the cab carrying the Glaubers.

BMW

The BMW police believe Julio Acevedo was driving when it slammed into a livery cab, killing a couple and their unborn child.

Acevedo in the meantime apparently showed no feelings even in the moments before he took off in this hit and run.

“We saw the driver of the BMW get out of his car he didn’t look injured, come look in the other car then get back in his car,” said the witness.  Acevedo has a lengthy arrest record and has served time in prison.  He has eight prior arrests including for murder, robbery and DWI.

Tragically, the young couple who married just a year ago lost their lives. Their premature baby boy was delivered at Bellevue Hospital, but sadly passed away Monday morning.

Couple killed

Passengers Nathan Glauber and his wife, Raizel, who was 7-months pregnant, were rushing to the hospital for what they believed were premature labor pains.

In the meantime, community leaders and residents are not wasting any time and urged for action at the intersection of Kent and Wilson, where they said accidents occur several times a month. Local lawmakers even called for harsher penalties against those who leave the scene of an accident.

Memorial

The child of Nathan and Raizel Glauber will be buried next to them in upstate New York.
